Let's Make a Facebook Fan Page

  Making a Facebook fan page is one of the best things you can do to increase the exposure of your products or services. One of the most important things is to get visitors of your fan page to "like" your page, making them a "fan". The reason for that is, your fans recive an update to their wall every time you post to your fan page. That in itself is good, but it's actually much better than that because your fans freinds get your update too! An average Facebook user has around 130 freinds, so think about how much each fan increases your reach. The best way to encourage more people to "like" your fan page by offering fan only content. Something like a video, ebook or coupon will work like a charm. I have an easy and secure way of offering fan only content without the learning curve or monthly fees.

  First, please allow me to explain what I mean by "secure". One popular method of accomplishing hidden content is to cover the fan only page with an image or drop-in. While this method does work (kind of), it's easily defeated and has another problem. The system depends on a display once cookie to function. After the like button is clicked, the page refreshes and since it's "display once" the image or drop-in goes away revealing the content. The problem is, anyone can see the hidden content by simply refreshing the page. Not very secure and the other problem is when one of your fans comes back later, the image/drop-in covers the content again. All in all, not such a good method to choose when all things are considered.

 Other choices? Well, you could buy something like Facebook Maxed (a fine product) and spend a couple days learning how to do it and use the tools needed to acomplish the task. Oh, and you'll need a domain and web hosting account because facebook does not host the iframe pages for you. Hummm. Or you could use something like TabSite that costs 15 bucks each and every month. They do have free and cheaper plans, but only the highest level offers the fan only content feature. There are so many social apps and widgets it's crazy, but the good features all seem to have a monthly fee attached.

In simple terms, the custom pages are hosted on my server. My server talks to Facebook via PHP coding and an application. A call is sent to discover if the page request is from a fan on non-fan. When an answer is recieved from Facebook my server renders the correct page. It's a fast, behind the scenes process that your visitor will never know is happening.
